From the German collector series “Die Euro-Proben Europas” (The Euro Patterns of Europe): the complete pattern set for Switzerland — the Swiss Confederation, a country that famously kept its franc and stayed out of the euro.
The sealed card holds 8 pattern coins dated 2003, covering the full euro denomination range from 1 cent to 2 euro. Every coin is inscribed ESSAI · PATTERN · PROBE. The national sides carry unmistakably Swiss motifs — Alpine wildlife, a cow, the Matterhorn and Helvetia — while the value sides show the denominations, with the Swiss cross on the card alongside the country data: 7.5 million inhabitants, 41,290 km², capital Bern, four national languages.
The set comes with its original guarantee card from BTN — Deutsche Ausgabestelle, certifying the authenticity of the issue. Its German text recalls the referendum of 4 March 2001, when Swiss voters rejected the “Ja zu Europa!” initiative that would have opened EU accession talks — the political backdrop that makes a Swiss euro pattern set such an ironic collectible. The card is illustrated with the Swiss National Bank in Zurich.
Please note: Switzerland uses the Swiss franc — these are private pattern (essai) strikes produced for collectors, never legal tender.
You will receive the exact set shown in the photos, sealed in its card with the certificate. Only one available.
