Eastern Caribbean States, 1986 Brilliant Uncirculated (6-Coin) Collection, Issued by the Royal Mint UK, Choice UNC.
The Eastern Caribbean dollar (symbol: EC$; code: XCD) is the currency of all seven full members and one associate member of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS).
Six of the states using the EC$ are independent states: Antigua and Barbuda, Dominica, Grenada, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia, and Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. The other two, Anguilla and Montserrat, are British Overseas Territories. These states are all members of the Eastern Caribbean Currency Union.
Struck by the Royal Mint UK, and commissioned by the Eastern Caribbean Central Bank to strike the Brilliant Uncirculated coins in this collection. The reverse designs of the 1 dollar, 25 and 10 cent coins show Sir Francis Drake's ship 'The Golden Hind', associated with the islands in the early years of their discovery. The reverse of the 5, 2 and 1 cent coins each depict crossed branches of palm. The obverse of all coins bear the Arnold Machin portrait of Queen Elizabeth II.
