Greece 2 Euro 2016 — "150 Years from the Burning of the Arkadi Monastery" — the Greek commemorative 2 euro coin in a numbered Numis Cover (philatelic-numismatic envelope), this one numbered 0668.
The coin shows the church of the Arkadi Monastery in Crete. In November 1866, around a thousand Cretan rebels and civilians besieged in the monastery chose to blow up the powder magazine rather than surrender to the Ottoman force — the "Arkadi Holocaust" became a symbol of the Cretan struggle for freedom, and the monastery is now a UNESCO-listed monument of peace.
The illustrated cover bears a Greek 0.90 € stamp of 2016 (the Holy and Great Council of the Orthodox Church) with an Athens philatelic postmark, and its back (in Greek) tells the story of Arkadi and gives the coin's specifications: struck in Athens, 8.5 g, 25.75 mm, uncirculated quality. A coin cover that brings together Greek history, philately and euro numismatics in one piece.
You will receive the exact cover shown in the photos.
