A complete pattern set for Heligoland (Helgoland), Germany's red-sandstone island in the North Sea, sealed in its original strip: 8 pattern coins dated 2005, from 1 cent to 2 euro, the rims inscribed ESSAI · PROBE · TRIAL.
The value sides carry an anchor on the copper cents, a laurel wreath on the 10, 20 and 50 cent pieces and a Hanseatic cog on the 1 and 2 euro pieces. The national sides, inscribed Bundesrepublik Deutschland · Helgoland, show the island's symbols: a grey seal (the island's famous colonies), the Heligoland lobster, and a portrait of Kaiser Wilhelm II — under whom the 1890 Heligoland–Zanzibar treaty brought the island to Germany.
Please note: Heligoland uses the euro as part of Germany — these are private fantasy pattern (probe) strikes produced for collectors, not legal tender.
You will receive the exact sealed set shown in the photos. Only one available.
